Do you remember the last time you thought about your inner child? Life can become so busy and filled with distractions that we often forget to take care of ourselves. But deep down, we know that our inner child is there, waiting for us to nurture and nourish her. Just like that massage gift certificate you received and never booked, it’s time to circle back around to her and give her the love and care she deserves.


Today, let’s get on a journey of self-love and dive into the topic of taking care of our inner child.


Embracing Our Inner Child


When I think about nurturing our inner child, I envision warm fuzzy feelings and the urge to give her a big, snuggly hug. So here’s a question for you: Have you been putting yourself and your needs on the back burner? It’s time to evaluate how long you’ve been neglecting yourself. Are you staying up too late, skipping meals, or relying on coffee and wine to cope with stress?


With increasing responsibilities, it’s easy to prioritize everything and everyone else except ourselves. But this pattern can lead to self-neglect, resulting in exhaustion and burnout on all fronts. It’s essential to break this cycle and treat ourselves with the same care and attention we give to our pets or loved ones.


Taking Control of Our Minds and Bodies


While there are many things in life beyond our control, we have power over two crucial aspects: our minds and our bodies. That’s why this month, I’ll be discussing different sections of self-care to help you make important lifestyle shifts that greatly impact your overall well-being.


Let me ask you another question: Do you have a favorite photograph of your younger self? A picture that brings joy to your heart, capturing a bright and smiling star. If you do, I encourage you to bring it out. Place it where you can see it regularly, whether it’s by your desk or on your fridge. This simple act reminds us to take charge of our inner child and treat her with utmost care and love.


Reflecting on Our Inner Child’s Needs


Let’s take a moment to dive deeper and connect with our subconscious minds and hearts. Reflect on these questions:


  1. What does your inner child need to feel safe and secure?
  2. What does she need to feel loved and cherished?
  3. And most importantly, what does she need right now?


Remember, it’s important to nurture and care for your inner child. Take the time to listen and provide what she needs. You deserve love and happiness! 


Taking Care of Her Well-being


Perhaps she needs a warm, fluffy hug, or maybe she’s yearning for fresh air and exercise, a good night’s sleep, or a nourishing meal. Just like you would pack a lunch for her with fresh fruits and vegetables, ensure she is properly hydrated by carrying an extra water bottle each day.


Moreover, encourage her to express her emotions instead of bottling them up. Let her tap into qualities like grace, compassion, sympathy, and empathy, which we freely give to others. Remember, taking care of her well-being is essential for a happy and fulfilled life.


Challenge: Treat Yourself, and ASAP


Discovering and nurturing your inner child is all about self-love and growth. When we embrace our inner child, we break free from self-limiting beliefs and truly live in the present moment. We have the power to take control of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, and nourish our inner child’s well-being. Through reflection and mindfulness, we can understand and meet our inner child’s needs, giving her the love, care, and attention she deserves. It’s time to shower ourselves with tender love and care. Treat yourself with the same love and care you would offer that little girl in the photograph. It’s time to get on a journey of self-love that will transform your life.
