The Benefits of Better Health Motivation

Are you motivated for better health?

Anyone looking to improve their health can attest to the fact that it’s not always easy to get started.

Even after making the decision to become healthier, the challenge of staying motivated often proves too difficult.

However, there are many benefits to be had from better health motivation – and once you experience them, you’ll be more likely to stick with your goals.

You will discover the top reasons why better health motivation is important, and learn the tips on how to achieve it.

Getting Yourself Motivated

In this blog, I will be discussing motivation. I will be explaining how to find your own motivation and how to stay motivated in difficult times. I will also be discussing some of the common reasons why you lose your motivation and get stuck. Finally, I will be addressing the question of how to FIND THE MOTIVATION to keep going when life seems to wear you down.

I’m going to talk about the importance of being motivated and how to find your own INNER SOURCE of inspiration. I’m Dr. Andrea Purcell and I help women struggling with health and hormonal issues, reclaim their health and their life using natural medicine without drugs and surgery.

A lot of people think that motivation is something magic that some people have and others don’t. This is not true. Anyone can be motivated if they know where to look and what to do. A lot of motivated women lose their motivation at some point in their lives.

A lot of people come to me and say they need their mojo back. I will share my top tips for finding your motivation as you go along. Where does motivation come from?

Starting Point for Motivation

Before you do anything, you need to figure out your goals and WHY you want to do it. Why do you want to do it today? What are you trying to achieve? I’m talking about how important it is to make your health a priority so you can stay motivated.

There are a lot of things in life that you might want to focus on. Maybe you want to learn a new language or achieve some type of recognition. These things require motivation, and everyone has their own reasons for wanting to be healthier.

Reasons for a Healthier Body

Some people want to be healthier so they can have a good quality of life and live longer. Other people want to be healthier because they don’t like the way they look or feel. Some people want to be healthier so they can have more energy and better mental clarity.

Some people want to be healthier so they can set a good example for their children. They also want to be able to be active with their kids or their grandkids and not miss out on those bucket list trips that make such great memories. So whatever your reasons are, it is important to find out what they are for you.

What Your Habit Does

You become what you do habitually. One great example is the story of Becky. In the spring of 2021, She called me because she was mortified about how much weight she had gained during the pandemic. She gained 30 pounds. She was stressed out and drank a bottle of wine each night as a way to cope. She was shocked at what she had gained, which made her feel even worse about herself.

I helped her with the food plan and told her about the wine. The wine wasn’t a good long-term stress management tool. On her own, she decided to swap it out for yoga. She started doing daily yoga and found that it became her new “bottle of wine.” Lately, this year when I spoke with her, she lost 27 pounds. Your habits can change and make you into a new person.

Make a change for the better

Your life can have two different sides. On one side, the grass is not greener. On the other side, the grass is greener where there is more water and fertilizer. It’s where you put your attention. This means that if you want your year to be better than the first half, you need to focus on making things better and not repeating what happened before. So it is important for you to choose which path you want to take.

If you want something different, then it is important to TAKE ACTION. Be open to CHANGE. Be open to changing your habits because you can’t keep doing the same things that got you stuck in the first place. Did you know that only 8% of people’s new year’s resolutions actually work? That means that 92% of people’s resolutions fail before the end of the year.

If you want to make a change, how do you make sure that it’s not going to be like the 92% of people who don’t succeed? I think it’s good to know a few things about human nature. The first thing is that you underestimate small changes and that is how real changes occur. In fact, that’s how you heal one day at a time.

Don’t Give Up on Your health

That’s why it’s important to have a mentor. Someone who can coach you through the day until you see small changes happening. Most people give up too quickly before they can see any real change.

Just think about this: if you get 1% better every day, by the end of the year you will be 37% better. However, if you give up and fail before seeing any results, you will not improve at all.

Around week two or three, many people start to feel discouraged. This is often called the “valley of disappointment.” You may feel like this process is harder than you thought and that it’s not as fun as you thought it would be. You may also worry that the scale isn’t moving, or that you still can’t fit into your old clothes. Keep in mind that this is natural and happens to everyone. Don’t let the negative talk get to you.

Become the Person You Want to be

The next issue is that we start with a “WHO” instead of a “DO”. Real-life changes start with “WHO”. The “WHO” enforces the commitment to your identity first. Then your identity changes your behaviors. You need to ask yourself. Who do you want to be? How are you going to do it?

Then you go and do it. The framework for success is “WHO – HOW – DO”. The framework for failure “DO” it first? You don’t know how you are going to figure it out. You don’t know who you want to be. Your identity is the single most important thing. It’s how you see yourself. It’s the power of your mind who you are. The direction that you want to move it

You don’t have time to wait until the end of this year to be the same or worse. I encourage you not to let another day, week, or month go by without deciding who you want it to be. You will be healthier by the end of this year if you follow my advice. The same goes for me.

Set a New Habit

Who I am is the sum total of my daily habits. The 40% to 50% of what’s happening in my life is from habits. It’s not from conscious decisions.

Your habits reinforced who I want to be. You become what you do regularly. Real-life changes happen with small and consistent habits. Your habits reinforce your identity. How do we set a new habit? To set a new habit you need to have three things. Motivation alone has zero impact on setting a new habit. Choose the time, place, and activity. You make it obvious to ourselves and others and then do it regularly.

To start, set the time and location by scheduling it. The next thing is to make it easy. Just go for a walk. Start with that. Next, build a community around it where people reinforce the direction of the person you want to be. It is hard to start a good habit and later becomes easy. Bad habits are easy to start, but hard to live in the long run.

Again, It is hard to start good habits, but it is easy to keep them going. The key is to consider the bad habit to be a bad one and make it invisible. You don’t really want to rely on self-control or white-knuckling It. You kind of want to remove the whole temptation. For example, if each night you get hungry and you start craving chips and you know that you eat half the bag, you might want to remove the chips from the pantry or from your line of sight so you are not tempted.

You want to focus on the cue and then take it away. There are times when it feels like we are stuck and can’t get out of the hole we’re in. That is why I am here. If you have any health problems such as inflammation, weight gain, lack of sleep, or stress, it will be hard for you to get motivated.

If you are feeling really stuck right now, if you’re at the end of your rope and feel like you can’t go on, it’s time to ask for help. And I want to be that person for you. You can learn more about me and how I serve my clients by visiting www.DrAndreaPurcell.com
