How Can Naturopathic Medicine Help?
During the initial consult and naturopathic visit, comprehensive assessments and tests (if necessary) help determine why you aren’t able to lose weight. This also includes body composition analysis (to determine fat and lean mass percentage, fluid levels and general health of cells), nutritional analysis of your food intake and dietary guidelines.
As a doctor who has treated many women, I have listened to the stories of defeat that women share with me when it comes to losing weight. At Portal To Healing Naturopathic Clinic we recognize that women are faced with other hormonal variables that sometimes interfere with their weight goals. We work with you to correct those underlying hormonal imbalances that hinder efficient metabolic function. When it comes to losing weight everyone is on their own path. We have designed three different weight loss programs to offer our patients based on your goals, and how quickly you would like to see results. All of our programs are 100% doctor monitored.

TIER 1: EDUCATIONAL WEIGHT LOSS
This program is designed for those who realize that by “Getting Healthy” they can reduce their overall weight by making better food choices. We access the way that you are currently eating, evaluate your laboratory tests and your metabolic rate. Based on your symptoms and the test results we develop a nutritional program for your individual needs. Then we educate you on the food plan and how to make better choices and small changes over time. The goal is to have you feel better. More balanced, better concentration, less inflammation, less emotional. Once you feel better you will begin to make better food choices and we develop nutritional programs that can be incorporated into all lifestyles through food recommendations, exercise, nutritional supplementation, and hormone balancing. An assessment of blood type, body composition analysis, food allergies, and laboratory testing will determine the smartest way for you to slowly and steadily lose weight by identifying those foods that cause inflammation and prevent you from burning your own fat. Specific supplementation based on your metabolic needs is recommended.
- Average female weight loss is 1-2 lbs every 7-10 days.
- Average male weight loss is 2-4 lbs every 7-10 days.
TIER 2: ULTRA LITE WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM
We offer the innovative, Ultra Lite weight loss program for those interested in a healthy weight loss solution. The program was voted the #1 weight loss program in 2005 and 2006 by readers of Slimming Magazine. Developed by a naturopathic doctor in Australia, Ultra Lite has been in use overseas for almost 15 years with over 1,000,000 people achieving success. The program is available only through health care practitioners. The great news is that when this program is followed the results speak for themselves. Without the use of drugs or stimulants, Ultra Lite offers an average weight loss of 2-4 pounds per week. This program shifts your metabolism from creating energy from sugar and carbohydrates to creating energy from fat. This means that you will actually be re-wiring your own metabolism to burn your own fat stores. How you determine that you are in “fat burning mode” is by measuring your urine daily. It requires following a specific food plan and measuring carbohydrate and protein intake for the entire length of time you are working towards your target weight.
The Ultra Lite program ensures the four components of a successful weight loss program. These components are:
- Weight lost during the program is from fat (not muscle).
- Food purchased and eaten is normal and easy to access. Also, a thorough understanding of the “good, the bad and the ugly” so unhealthy and sabotaging eating habits don’t return.
- Food allergies and sensitivities are identified so the offending food can be eliminated or reduced to avoid inflammation and the regaining of lost weight.
- Pinpointing any of 14 conditions such as thyroid dysfunction, or other hormonal disorders that if not addressed can prevent successful weight loss over time.
You will be given all the resources needed including recipes and food lists to properly combine protein and carbohydrates to promote optimal fat burning. This will promote a fat burning metabolism which we will have you verify daily with a simple home test. The program is well structured, easy to administer and eliminates guesswork.
**Participants consume four tasty packets (these come in a variety of flavors) which provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The nutrients are balanced to support your success on the program. Some people with certain medical conditions will need one or two additional nutrients which will be recommended.

**This is a monthly program with the cost covering everything you’ll need to be successful. Once your target weight is reached you will be placed on a well-balanced maintenance program with periodic check-ups to help you maintain Weight Loss.
TIER 3: HCG MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS
Our HCG Program, also known as Medical Weight Loss, allows you to rapidly lose a specific amount of weight in a 30 day period. It is also the most intensive. You can safely and effectively lose up to 10% of your body weight on this program, and some can achieve 30 pounds of weight loss in 30 days. A very specific diet must be followed for the 4 weeks along with injections of HCG, a hormone that women produce during pregnancy. This program dramatically shifts your metabolism towards burning your own fat and allows you to create energy from the fat that you are melting away. HCG assists in controlling all cravings when you are on this low calorie diet. Vitamin injections are given to assist with energy and promote fat burning. HCG is completely safe for women of all ages. Following the 4 weeks of injections, you are then transitioned to a stabilization food plan for 3 weeks where your weight loss is stabilized, to be followed by a maintenance food plan which will allow you to maintain the weight you have lost while eating a healthy, whole food diet. Unlike other weight loss programs all of your weight is lost in the first three weeks of this program. This means that your results are immediate.
